Annual MVGCSA Shoot at Pike Run and Ken Bard Cup |

This year the 15th annual Shoot at Pike
Run and monthly Mountain & Valley Golf Course Superintendents
association meeting, hosted by Rick Kanuch, provided cold
weather conditions with overcast skies and a some wind blowing from left
to right (just to make it interesting).
Approximately 20
shooters competed for the coveted Ken Bard Cup, which was named
after the long time turf equipment salesman for Krigger & Company. Ken
was a long time friend of Rick Kanuch and he was the salesman who called
on many of the members of the MVGCSA. |

This was the 7th year that the competition
included the Ken Bard Cup with its traveling trophy listing past winners
and the runners-up. This year's winner's circle includes
first-time champion, Dean Hancox. Dean is the Uncle of past champion and
this year's 3rd place winner, Thom Hancox. Last year's champion, Tim Fitzgerald from Krigger & Company,
finished in 2nd place. |

Rick Kanuch was pleased that there were no
ties this year which meant that a shoot-off was not required. Given the
cold and windy conditions the shooters were also happy to avoid a
shoot-off. Small trophies were presented to past champions so they could
have an award to keep after the traveling trophy is passed on to the new
champion each year. |
