There is more to just mowing when it come to sports field
maintenance. In preparation for next season, North Allegheny
High School performed a thatch removal process on their premier
baseball field using the Sisis Veemo vertical dethatcher shown
above being pulled by a Branson 4720 Tractor.
The picture
above shows an area in the middle where thatch removal has not
yet occurred and the surrounding area where thatch has been
pulled to the surface.
Once the thatch
has been pulled to the surface it needs to be removed. A
close-up of the field is shown above.
The smooth
running Branson 5530 Tractor pulling a Therrien Vac-200 Sweeper
was used to remove the thatch from the surface of the playing
field.
It's important
to have and area to dump the thatch after it is removed. The
pile shown above was getting large even before we were finished
(and half of it is over the hill).
