| Krigger
& Company partners with Penn State
University to begin unique Research Study. |
|
Tom Hurst from Bernhard Co., manufacturers
of the Express Dual and Anglemaster grinders, was on hand at Penn State
University along with Sam Bohinc of Krigger & Company to install the
newly donated grinders for use at the Turf Plots and to train the Penn
State personnel on their proper use. Along with the grinders, Krigger &
Company has donated walking greens mowers to begin a research study on the
difference between mowing with sharpened reels and backlapped reels. |
 |
|
The
details of the study are currently in the development process, but the
plan is to develop a 9 or 12 week study on the affects of mowing daily
with properly sharpened reels vs. the use of backlapping.
The details still need to be worked out on
what Penn State wants to look at but it may be designed to look at mower
quality as it relates to dollar spot incidence since Penn State already
has a dollar spot study in place looking at spoon feeding products.
These two studies could go hand in hand.
David Livingston will be the primary contact for information on this
research. Feel free to contact him for an update on the progress of this
research. Be sure to look in on this study at this years turf plot
field days. |
