Derian D. Keefer, age 58, of Kittanning, PA, died, Wednesday, December 2, 2009, as a result of an automobile accident.

He was born October 26, 1951, Beaver Co., PA, to James G. Keefer and Florence "Betty" (Deemer) Macioge.

Derian was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church where he served on the church council, took part in the bell and vocal choir, and taught Sunday school. He served in the Army as a helicopter mechanic during Vietnam. For over 20 years, Derian was employed with Krigger and Company, Inc. and worked in sales. He also worked at the Kittanning County Club for many years as the former superintendant and current mechanic. He was a drum major for the Kittanning Fireman's Band and served on the board of directors, and was also a former member of the Applewold Fire Dept. Derian could fix anything and enjoyed splitting wood, bike riding, and cooking gourmet food. He loved listening to music and playing the flute and piccolo.

He is survived by his mother, Florence "Betty" Macioge; a daughter, Ashley Rossi and husband Jim of Glenside, PA; a son, Nicholas "Nick" T Keefer of Kittanning; fiancé, Donna Lynn Livengood; and two brothers, James Jerry Keefer, Jr. and wife Katherine of Maidens, VA, and Terry C. Keefer and wife Gina of Lakewood, NY.

He was preceded in death by his father, James G. Keefer.

The family received friends from 11 AM to 3 PM on Saturday, December 5, 2009, at the Bauer Funeral Home, 515 N. McKean Street, Kittanning, PA. A funeral service followed at 4 PM on Saturday at the St. John's Lutheran Church, 218 N Jefferson St., Kittanning, PA, with Rev. Carl A. Johnson officiating.
